Prayer Room

 

The Prayer Room is the heartbeat – the essence and the origin of all that goes on at Open Door House of Prayer. It is designed to reflect the Tabernacle of David
(1 Chronicles 22-24), where the Body of Christ never ceases to worship the Lord and intercede for this region and our world. Our desire is that you come to pray; it has been designed to be a relaxed atmosphere where you may choose to sit, stand or even pace up and down the aisles. Whatever you do, we ask that you do it in a manner that honors and serves the other people in the room.

During our intercessory worship sets you will see a worship team and a prayer leader who serves as a facilitator. The prayer leader will use the Word of God to intercede for a topic while the musicians and singers play and sing back what was prayed. The prayer leader or worship leader may invite participants in the room to pray at the microphone or break into groups to pray for a specific topic. While in the prayer room, feel free to sing along with the worship teams, read your Bible, a favorite commentary or write in your journal. Lap tops are allowed in the prayer room.

Set Types

There are four types of prayer formats or “sets” that we use at ODHOP. Intercession, Worship With The Word, Devotional, and Prophetic Worship.

This prayer format is usually more energetic as the participants in the room are invited to engage in corporate prayer. These two-hour sets generally have a specific prayer focus, and will encourage individuals in the prayer room to engage in unified intercession. For those who wish to participate, there are times when the microphone will be open to pray. One example of this may be rapid fire prayer, which is simply 5 second prayers offered on the microphone one after another. Intercessory sets are usually scheduled in the evenings.
This is a prayer format in which we agree with God’s heart as we sing the Biblical truths of who God is and what He promises to do. Since these sets are more devotional in nature, the volume is brought down slightly to make a more conducive environment for reading the Bible and entering into contemplative or devotional prayer. It is sometimes referred to as a “singing seminary.”
This prayer format focuses on creating an anointed atmosphere in the prayer room for individuals to commune with God in meditation and Bible study.
This is a corporate time of sustained worship with some spontaneous prophetic singing, designed to corporately bring us into the presence of the Lord. It also allows for discerning specific ministry that God is highlighting at the time (healing, deliverance, impartation etc.)
